I miss getting all excited when we see each other outside rehearsal and waving and grinning like idiots. I miss staying at hotels and swimming. . .so relaxing! Here's what I've come up with.

1. Working. A LOT.

Two jobs. . . double shifts. . .crazy patients. . .stressed out staff. . .sneaking cookies in the patient kitchen. . .getting distracted by all the shiny things in Kohl's. . . all to make money that I can't even spend. Sigh.

2. Attempting to get a tan.

This is always a fairly fruitless effort. Several reasons for this. One is that it seems to never be sunny here. At least not when I'm not working. It also doesn't help that I usually sleep until an hour before I have to work. Oh, and I bought a kiddie pool last summer to entice me to spend more time outside. But that fills up with BUGS AND LEAVES, so I usually never get in it.

3. Mediating online between two people who can't seem to decide how they feel about each other.

And getting in trouble while I do it. Oh my word. NEVER interfere with young love. At least, not when you are as awkward and obvious and big mouthed as I am. Also, we must hate online conversations as they are saved and can be COPIED AND PASTED and come back to haunt you.

4. Watching sitcoms and crime shows with my family.

I swear, we're addicts. I think it's cute, though, how we all sit around--three of us on the computer. . . one of us reading the paper--watching TV together, laughing at Ray, Marie, and Doug. Good times, good times.

5. Spending far too much time on Facebook.

Five hundred friends and so little time to keep up with all their wall posts, updates, and pictures! And then there is flair; flair is ADDICTING. Oh my word. And the board is FAR TOO SMALL. I think it would be cool if they gave us different "display options" for our flair. Like, maybe a fridge or something. Like you would have in your dorm room. Or a Christmas tree with flair ornaments!!

6. Road trip with my brothers.

I have no idea where. I was thinking the UP. Andrew has suggested San Diego because "it's the furthest thing away from Saginaw in these here United States." His plans include swimming and crossing the border to Mexico. Should be interesting.

I think there's more but I can't recall. More to come later!

Where do I begin. . .?

I have no idea. Yike. I haven't really blogged since like, last summer.

In August, I went back to Northland for a year. I think most of you knew this, as you have seen pictures on Facebook and such. I LOVED this past year. Allow me to ramble about my peeps!

My roommates were Audrey and Jen. Audrey and I had been roomies before and we decided we would enjoy each other's company for another year. When I met Jen for the first time, I thought she was shy, but it turns out that was a false impression! Then I met Jess, who grew up with Audrey. Soon after that, Jenny, from across the hall, started coming over. Add to that mix Corrie (from freshman year) and Kathleen (from home) and I had a pretty sweet and amazing group of friends. I love those girls and I am so thankful for the times we spent talking, laughing, arguing, eating, getting ready, napping, studying. . .all that stuff.

I also traveled for Northland on a music/drama team. There were nine of us students. We quickly went from being strangers to something quite close to family. We had an amazing time traveling on the weekends, ministering in different churches and taking part in a few special events. I have never ministered with such a close group of friends, so that was wonderful experience. The girls--Amanda, Becki, Kelly, and Angela--were quite like sisters in the way we interacted and UNDERSTOOD so much about each other. And those boys--Mitchell, Travis, Chad, and Vladimir--quite the gentlemen and quite the cut-ups, never failing to make me laugh! The team is traveling this summer with a different pianist and I shall miss them so.

God was so good to me in giving me godly close friends. He also taught me SO much about ministry, his church, and his Son.

I am home now. Happy to be here, but I am missing everyone I have to be without. However, I am looking forward to summer--work (which means money!), road trips, a tan, and watermelon. Yippee!!

I think that's enough catching up for now. More--and hopefully better--inspiration may strike me later. Maybe in the form of a poem or something. LOL

Summer is coming; I can't wait!!

Snow fun!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I don't even know if I spelled that correctly. . .

So much has gone on during the past few weeks or so!

Top three were as follows:

1. Artist Series. Jen (and others) did much orchestrating and arranging and managed to put together a group of like, 12 of us. I had a great time getting to know and hanging out with this big group of us. Pictures are on Facebook if you'd like to see.

2. Spirit Week. I actually dressed up some this year which is slightly random for me. My favorite day was Roomie Twin Day. Aud, Jen, and I went as hillbillies which was a sight to behold. Once again, the pics will be on Facebook soon.

3. Witness. We traveled for the first time last night! We had a good time in the van getting to know each other and talking. The Conference was held in the beautiful Osthoff resort. So GORGEOUS!!! We were a blessing to the ladies and the session we sat in was a blessing to me! Mrs. Barba talked about walking as Christ walked in simplicity. She spoke about how His life was busy and full but never ever hurried. If I have too much to get done (and not be able to sleep). . .then I am too busy!!

This month has been awesome. I am having much fun with roomies and friends, enjoying my school work, and loving what God is teaching me! Still I miss home and the friends who aren't here with me, but God is good!

Musings

It's like standing under a waterfall and trying to drink out of it. I don't think I really had any until I returned to my beloved Northland.
I'd like to emphasize that I really do LOVE it here. I really do; that's why I came back. I'm just not used to wandering about hallways and aisleways with six hundred + of God's children. That's just too many.
While I love my fellow students, this is what bothers me about them:

Number one: When they stop in the middle of the chapel aisle, turn to face each other--with their GINORMOUS BACKPACKS STICKING OUT OF THEIR BACKS. And they remain there, just chatting, as you try to make your way to your chapel seat.

Number two: When they take their chairs down, march them to the back of the gym (as expected). But then they stand there and chat (seems to be a theme) as you try to place your chair in the appropriate stack. This causes you to stand there and wait for another stacking place to become available.

Number three. When they walk through a door that you have waited to hold open for them, look straight at you, and then turn their head to address their friend. No acknowledgment of thanks is apparently necessary for this small act of kindness.

This is apparently the reality of the logistical movement of college students. Tonight was weird at work. We ended up having to put a patient in restraints. Keep in mind, this is done for the safety of the patient and the staff. They are monitored very closely for signs of distress and for food/bathroom needs. Still, for me having never been around this sort of thing before, it was quite intense. Later, we had a patient who forgot to get dressed when they got out of the shower. Welcome to my version of normal.

On to brighter things.

2. My dog Teddy is so incredibly weird. I get home tonight and he--as always--runs to the door to greet me. I walk with him into the den and find these bits of something on the floor. He had been chewing his tennis ball toy thing. But he doesn't merely chew it. He gnaws a piece off, sucks on it for a while, spits it out, licks the ball where he gnawed it (as if he wounded it or something), then licks his paw, and then licks the floor where the piece of ball he just spit out is lying. And then he starts over. Is this what all dogs do? So after that bit of drama, he decides to go to sleep. Only I think he had a bad dream, because his legs were moving like he was running and he was barking and shaking. lol What a funny little friend.

3. Another work story. We have a patient that I'll call Ron. I was walking to the door the other day and Ron ended up behind me. . . walking. . .singing to himself. The lyrics to his song went somewhat like this:

It's a beautiful girl in the neighborhood.
It's a beautiful girl in the neighborhood.

If I only had a brain.

Quite an excellent singing voice he had!

Jessi-and-Beth time. . .

Saturday after work, I drove to Cedarville, OH, to see Jessi! Since it would be quite frustrating to try to rearrange them, I shall do my best to paint a chronological picture with my words. We were buying t-shirts. My dad was really excited; he got one that says "You don't know me. . . Federal Witness Protection Program.'" He thought that was quite clever. I got one that says " I heart DC". How original. We also bought hoodies at a little stand like this (there's several of them. . .) Quite a nice vacation prezzie from Daddio.

This was Wednesday at the Spy Museum. As you can see, I did come up with something. . . .although you maybe wondering why in the world I picked what I did. I shall tell you. . .

Tonight, my brothers and I had company. Joe, Robert, and Emily came over after church to chill and to watch Facing the Giants. I don't know if all of you have seen said movie. The acting is a little rough, but I think the story line is powerful. It's especially sweet when you realize that they have been showing this movie EVERYWHERE: in highschools, to sports teams, to the kids in White Pine. Quite a strong testimony. But back to my original train of thought.

If you recall the scene with Grant and Mr. Bridgers. . . .Mr. Bridgers is giving words of encouragement to Grant. When Grant admits that he is frustrated because he doesn't see God at work, Mr. Bridgers tells him this: "I heard a story of two farmers who both desperately needed rain. They both prayed for rain, but only one went and prepared his fields. Now which one do you think believed the rain was actually coming?"

My little brain began to ponder that. . . There is SO much I want God to do in my life right now. . . things I am begging Him to accomplish. I want to go back to Northland. I want to be married and have a family. I want to be on my own. I want to be changed from the selfish person I am into somebody else. I want to SEE God at work.

But have I made my life ready for rain?

Catching Up

Since I haven't blogged in forever, I am way behind on pictures. Well, so much for blogging every week. . . lol So much has been happening lately.

First off, I quit my job at Kohl's in January. Quite glad to be done working there. The people were nice, but I didn't enjoy it anymore. . . Plus, I was back to getting like, 12 hours a week.

I now work at HealthSource as a unit secretary. I work in the psychiatric unit. I started out part-time, but within a few weeks (my first day was January 22nd. . .) I was full-time. Praise the Lord for a full-time job! What's really cool is that the nurses and other workers are super nice to me and I really enjoy what I do. !!! By the way, this paragraph is merely a summary of the last two months. The full story is quite long. Step by step, God worked everything out.

The downside to working in a hospital is that I have to work every other weekend. Since I'm second shift (3-11:30), this means that I will miss every other Sunday night. I also am scheduled to work every Wednesday night, but the scheduler dude said he would work with me as much as he could so that I could have Wednesdays as one of my days off so I'd have every other one off!

Keeping up with work and all the changes in my job situation has been keeping me quite busy. I'm not really up to anything else. I sleep, eat, and talk to friends when I can. Oh, and if I don't post enough on here for you, find me on Facebook!!

Oh! Two cool things that I almost forgot. One, my birthday was the end of January and my AMAZING friends from Northland came down for the weekend!!! That was so much fun. We celebrated my birthday on Saturday with some friends here, Sunday we shopped a little and went to Frankenmuth, and Monday we slept in and they left. A very quick weekend. But a very fun weekend!!!!! I'll post pictures soon.

The second cool thing. Northland's travelling team was at my highschool last Thursday. Since Friday was their day off, they stayed in Saginaw until Saturday. My friend RuthAnn was able to stay at my house that entired time. We were also able to hang out with the team on Friday. My brother David and I went bowling with them and then they came here and made dinner. I MISS Northland! So it's always great to see Northland people!

Sorry for the rambling. Wanted to update. I haven't gone all summer like some people I know (ahem), but still. . .

Not much is different. I am really enjoying my HUC class. We've had two abbreviation tests in there, and I have done well on both of them (which is quite encouraging, I must say). When I think about doing clinicals and actually having to REMEMBER everything, I get a little nervous. But Sharon (my instructor) assures us that we will be just fine if we think. Which might be the difficult part. I guess we'll see how it goes.

So this Saturday is Michigan's Harvest Fest. Northland is sending a group of students down--my good friends Kathleen and Amy being two of them!!! Amy will actually be staying with me for a few days; I am so excited!! However, I do not feel like such and will therefore probably make popcorn and watch an episode or two of Hogan's Heroes with my mummy.

Have a goodnight!

I really should be in bed. . .

Well, I hadn't posted in awhile. . .So I thought I would (despite the fact that I should be sleeping)

Life is good. I started my class last Tuesday! I find it very interesting. My classmates are a bit odd, but I guess this is just an "eye-opening experience" The class meets Tuesday 8-4, Wednesday 8-2, and Thursday 8-2. The first four weeks will be spent in the classroom, the next two weeks will be spent doing computer training, and the final six weeks will be spent in clinicals. AHHHHHHHH A bit scared. =D

I went on an adventure today. It was only shopping in Flint and Birch Run. But it was with Betsy which made it hilarious. hehehe We got cute stuff. . . yay! And had a few drive-through experiences. Who'd have thought???

I was also suprised this morning. While I'm sitting on my loveseat eating breakfast (keep in mind it was noon. . .=D), who should walk in my door? Kathleen. Quite good to see her. Pray for her, if you please. She is home to see her cousin Stephanie who is in the hospital. Steph has had brain tumors and different things in the past. Currently, she has pneumonia in both lungs and is not doing very well.

Well, I must be off. But this one thing I HAVE learned. (Surprising, though, that God has managed to pound it into my thick head.)

God knows what He's doing!!!

Sounds obvious, I realize. But how often do we forget to remember that?

I am so thankful that He continues to show me. Over and over. I remember and I forget, yet, He never fails to remind me that He has a perfect plan and that all I need to do is trust.

Take now, for instance. I am so lost as to what I am doing with my life (I think I was rambling about this in an earlier post), and I wonder why on earth things happen like they do because mostly things seem to have no order or to make logical sense. And then it seems like God just speaks quietly in my ear and says, "Beth, I know what I am doing. Trust Me. That part was fine. However, the next few hours found me wandering around Delta (our community college) trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing and where I was supposed to be going to do said things.

But I think I figured it out! Yay!!! All of the steps aren't complete yet. This mildly concerns me as the class starts a week from this upcoming Tuesday. Yike. But a lot of it is taken care of. I'll be take a class through Workforce Development. That just means that the course isn't for college credit. Instead, when the class is over, I will have a certificate that will (hopefully) make me employable. =) The certificate will allow me to be a Health Unit Coordinator. I'm not entirely sure how to explain Health Unit Coordinator, but this is the description that the "professionals" give. . .

"Health unit coordinators work in a hospital or office setting assisting nursing staff with non-clinical clerical tasks. They perform a variety of services for patients, visitors, and hospital management. Health unit coordinators handle everything from maintaining patient charts and scheduling diagnostic tests, to ordering supplies and transcribing doctor's orders. Health unit coordinators also receive new patients and give information and directions to visitors. "

If you read all that, I'm proud of you. =)

Anyway. I'm excited. Methinks I will really enjoy that type of work. . . AND it pays much better than anything I could get right now. So I guess we'll see what happens.

Must go to sleep. However, tonight I'm feeling slightly introspective and am about to ramble about very introspective-ish things.

So like, in my original plan for this upcoming fall, I would be heading to Northland on Friday for the fall semester. However, this was not in God's plan. Which surprised me actually. I thought I would be wanting to stay home and God would be pushing me back to Northland. The reality is quite the opposite. I'm supposed to stay here and I'm very much wanting to go back.

Kathleen and Ed already left. (They get to be room leaders. . . ) And Amy leaves tomorrow. I know that God has a plan, and He has shown me QUITE clearly (through a great variety of circumstances) that His plan for me right now is to be here at home working. And while I know that in my head, it's a little hard for my emotions and desires to realize that as well. =)

So enough rambling. Here are some excellent song lyrics.
